Dunlop Volley is to Australia what Converse is to the United States. Born in 1939 after Aussie tennis player Adrian Quist won the Davis Cup in a pair of borrowed boat shoes and decided to make up a pair of sneakers with a similar herringbone-patterned, siped sole, Volley shoes were built for tennis, and immediately became the shoe of choice for Aussie tennis players. Fast forward to 1979, and Mark Edmonson won the Australian Open in a pair of Volley Internationals, turning the plimsoll-style sneaker into a pop culture icon. An understated, go-with-the-flow shoe, the Dunlop Volley International low-top and Dunlop Volley High Leap mid-top are ideal on the court, at the beach, at music festivals, and for parkour (seriously -- they’re great for gripping).
